My Process
All of my work begins with sketches to plan the shapes and colours. I cut every element by hand from heavy white paper and mountboard, never coloured paper, so the surface starts as a clean blank slate.
Each piece is then painted, including the edges, with several coats of matte acrylic to create deep, satisfying and even colour.
Once painted, the shapes are layered together. Some are raised on small mounts to cast shadows and give a sense of depth. The final layers are carefully glued down and pressed flat, leaving a crisp, vibrant artwork that plays with colour, contrast edging, form, and shadow.
